Online Session by Digital Awareness for Youth (DAY) - August 30, 2024

Event Overview:

On August 30, 2024, Digital Awareness for Youth (DAY) held an online session to talk about the important topics of digital literacy and cybersecurity. The main purpose of this session was to help young people understand both the good and bad sides of using the internet. In this session, Amjahd Hussain from DHEWA (Development for Health, Education, Work, and Awareness) spoke to the youth and shared how important digital literacy is for them. He pointed out that while many young people are already using the internet, they should also know about its positive and negative sides. Amjahd explained that just like we learn the good and bad things about anything else we use, we should also understand how to use the internet wisely and safely.

Next, Mohsin Ali from HowWeb Digital Experts gave a talk about cybersecurity. He explained what cybersecurity means and why it is important for Pakistan. Mohsin shared some real-life examples of cybercrimes that have happened in Pakistan, like fraud and blackmailing that take place online. He also talked about how to recognize these kinds of threats and what to do about them.

Mohsin Ali noted that it’s hard to cover everything about cybersecurity in just one session. That's why more sessions will be held in the future to discuss each topic more thoroughly. He encouraged young people to attend these sessions regularly so they can protect themselves from online dangers and use the internet in a positive way.

This session was a great step towards helping young people become more aware of digital safety. Holding more sessions like this will be helpful for teaching youth how to use the internet safely and effectively.
